Sony Courting David Gordon Green for ‘Little House on the Prairie’

Sony is in talks with director David Gordon Green to direct a new Little House on the Prairie film, based on the series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. While my first reaction is to scoff at this idea, I then think about how Green would shape this idea into his own. I think of his debut feature George Washington mixed with Meek’s Cutoff, and suddenly a Little House movie doesn’t sound so bad after all.

Abi Morgan, who co-wrote Shame and The Iron Lady is attached to pen the script, and Scott Rudin (The Social Network) is set to produce.

Green hasn’t confirmed or denied this announcement as of yet, however with his other projects Joe, Q, and Suspiria well under way, I would think this is going to be a long treacherous dirt road before it sees the light of day.

Until then, enjoy some highlights from the pilot of the TV series, if you can manage to stay awake the whole time.
