Sony Decides to Release THE INTERVIEW at Select Theaters and VOD

Just days after angering much of the country by announcing they would not release the Seth Rogen, James Franco comedy The Interview amidst threats from a (possibly North Korean) hacker group, Sony has decided to release the film afterall in a select number of theaters and VOD. This news doesn’t really come as a surprise considering the amount of backlash the studio received after pulling the film from theaters, but it is surprising to find out they will be rolling it out on Christmas day as originally planned.

According to The Wrap, Sony will be making an official announcement regarding the release sometime today, but it’s been confirmed that the movie will be screening at the Alamo Drafthouse as well as the Plaza theater in Atlanta. More theaters will surely be announced later today as well as the VOD plans for the film.
