Sony Greenlights the ‘ALF’ Movie

With the success of Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted, it’s only natural studios would want to capitalize on the furry little creature concept, and the latest endeavor to quench America’s insatiable thirst for more, will be met with Alf.  Yes, Alf, the beloved alien from 80’s TV is coming to the big screen in a live-action CG hybrid from Sony Pictures.Better yet, Smurfs producer Jordan Kerner has joined the project in order to make sure they get things right, just like they did with The Smurfs.

It’s assumed that Alf will be a more family-friendly version of Ted, probably looking for a middle-ground between the raunchy bear and the annoying little Smurfs, with a PG-13 rating.

This sounds like a complete disaster, however I think it might be interesting if they set the film in the 80’s when the show took place, and it is confirmed that Paul Fusco, the show’s original creator and voice of Alf, will be coming back to do the voice of the cat-eating alien.

Currently, there’s no other cast or director news, so we’ll report back when that gets announced, I know most of you are on pins and needles to find out more.
