Studio Ghibli’s First Live Action Film Trailer

Here we have the trailer for Studio Ghibli’s first foray into live action, with a short film titled Giant God Warrior Appears In Tokyo. At first glance, I thought, this doesn’t look like anything special, until I found out they created the film using no CGI what-so-ever.

The short film was created for a gallery exhibition, and was directed by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and is based off characters from the Studio Ghibli film Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind.

The big question now, is that was Studio Ghibli testing the waters for live action, or was this more of a one-off deal? There’s no word as of yet if they are planning to adapt this into a feature-length film, but if the response is good enough, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this on the horizon.
