‘The Avengers’ Grosses the Biggest Opening in North American History

It’s official, Marvel’s The Avengers has shattered the weekend box office, pulling in $200.3 million domestically, and a staggering 641.8 million worldwide. This firmly places at the highest grossing weekend opening of all-time, knocking Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 to the number two spot with $169,189,427. These numbers, pulled from boxofficemojo.com, don’t reflect the full day for Sunday, so in actuality, the numbers will be even higher.

The question now is, does The Dark Knight Rises have what it takes to dethrone this behemoth? My guess would be no, it does not. What do you think?
