This week in unnecessary remake news, the upcoming remake of Eli Roth‘s Cabin Fever received a new trailer, and it looks every bit as gory an pointless as you probably thought it would. While I enjoyed, but wasn’t in love with, the original, I don’t see a single reason for this film to exist, considering the first one is most assuredly better and it came out in 2002 so it’s not like it’s incredibly dated or anything.
Roth is executive producing the film with Travis Zariwny directing. As for the trailer it looks like the movie will basically be the same as the original with scenes and plot points mirroring those of Roth’s debut, including that memorable bath sequence.
Cabin Fever opens in limited release and on VOD platforms February 12th from IFC Midnight.

Executive producer Eli Roth presents this reboot of his instant classic gorefest, which features all new characters and all new kills. The story is familiar: fresh out of college, a group of five friends retreat to a remote cabin in the woods for one last week of partying—only to become snacks for a gruesome, flesh-eating virus. What’s surprising are the ingenious new deaths, which offer a fresh spin on a horror-comedy milestone. With Gage Golightly (Teen Wolf) and Dustin Ingram (Paranormal Activity 3).
