Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ Trailer

Yahoo has released the new trailer for Disney’s new Tim Burton film Frankenweenie, a black and white stop-motion animation film starring the voices of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Short. Based on the 1984 short film by Tim Burton, the story of Frankenweenie  centers on a boy who loses his dog and brings him back to life a la Frankenstein.

The film definitely has the Burton vibe to it, and looks very similar to A Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride, and was created by the same animation team. I’m interested to see how this turns out, as it is a departure from Disney’s normal CG animated films.  I’m also curious to see how the black and white stop motion will look in 3D, because I’m guessing it’s going to be pretty cool. As for the movie itself, the original 29 minute live action short didn’t have a lot of substance, so we’ll just have to see how they fill out the story for a feature-length adaptation.
