Too soon to revisit Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign? Well, those who choose to have the chance to with the upcoming Showtime doc Trumped: Inside the Greatest Political Upset of All Time.
Directed by Ted Bourne, Mary Robertson and Banks Tarver, the film focuses on Trump’s rise from a candidate that wasn’t taken seriously to the 45th President of the United States. I have a feeling this won’t be the last doc we see regarding this presidency.
Trumped played at Sundance and premieres on Showtime on February 3rd.
The film offers an intimate behind the scenes look at the biggest political campaign upset in recent U.S. history. Mark Halperin, John Heilemann and Mark McKinnon — co-hosts of the SHOWTIME documentary series THE CIRCUS (produced in cooperation with Bloomberg Politics) — had unparalleled daily access to the candidates from January to November. With an incredible treasure trove of never-before-seen footage secured during the making of THE CIRCUS, the documentary will follow the rise of Donald Trump, from the primaries through the debates, to the dramatic election night results.
