Annapurna has released the first trailer for Kathryn Bigelow‘s Detroit, and it looks to be just as intense as the director’s recent films The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. The film depicts the 1967 Detroit riots and the thorny issues surrounding them, which are also still very relevant today.
Detroit stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, John Krasinski, and Anthony Mackie. It is in theaters on August 4th.
From the Academy Award winning director of THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY, DETROIT tells the gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ‘67.
