David Gordon Green Returns to the South in ‘Joe’

Deadline reports that Worldview Entertainment announced today, that it will finance the new David Gordon Green project titled Joe starring Nicolas Cage. The film, based on a novel by Larry Brown takes place in a small Mississippi town, where Cage becomes an unlikely caretaker of a 15-year-old boy.

The film will be executive produced under the Danny McBride/Jody Hill company Rough House Pictures.

Principle photography is set to begin in November, but there is currently to release date or other casting details just yet.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I hope this will be a return to form for David Gordon Green. George Washington remains one of my favorites, an I would love to see him return the gritty south in a drama.
