Denis Villeneuve Circling DUNE Reboot

Legendary recently secured the rights to Frank Herbert‘s classic novel Dune and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, are in talks with Denis Villeneuve about helming a new feature film. The director has a lot of momentum in the sci-fi world with Arrival being a critical and financial success and the trailer for Blade Runner 2049 generating a ton of excitement.

The 1965 novel was adapted by David Lynch in 1984 and while that film was an infamous failure in its time, it has since become a cult hit. If Villeneuve does sign on, the combination of director and source material would certainly be intriguing.
