First Look at Bong Joon-ho’s OKJA

Netflix has released the first images of Okja, the upcoming feature from genre master (and tweaker) Bong Joon-ho (Snowpiercer). One image shows Mija (Ahn Seo-hyun) looking concerned, probably because her creature pal (that she names Okja) is in peril. A second image sows Red (Lily Collins) running through New York. There’s also a storyboard for that sequence.

There aren’t a whole lot of plot details yet, but Bong has stated he wants to show the “beauty and horror that can exist between man and animal” and that the film will be critical of corporations and capitalism. I’m sure there will be interesting twists and turns.

Okja also stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Yoon Je Moon, Choi Wooshik  and Steven Yeun, and will premiere on Netflix, who also produced the film, sometime in 2017.
