Wes Anderson has confirmed via video that production has begun on his long-rumored stop-motion animation project. Like Fantastic Mr. Fox, the feature will be animal-centric and is titled Isle of Dogs. No plot details are revealed, but there is a poster tease and a (very brief) glimpse at one of the characters in the video.
The huge voice cast includes Bill Murray, Bryan Cranston, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, F. Murray Abraham, Harvey Keitel, Akira Ito, Akira Takayama, Koyu Rankin, Courtney B. Vance, Yoko Ono, and Edward Norton – who appears in the announcement above.
The video also includes information on a charity raffle that will allow someone to be part of the film. Anderson has teamed with CrowdRise to offer a trip to London to tour the set and even voice a character. Donations of $10 support The Film Foundation, Martin Scorsese’s non-profit that protects and preserves films.
