After unveiling a new poster earlier this week, Paramount has released a short trailer for horror sequel Rings. Much of the imagery will be familiar to fans of the series about a cursed videotape that shows a young girl emerging from a well, glowing rings, static, and so on. The biggest differences appear to be that the video has moved online and Samara now crawls out of a flat screen instead of a tube TV.
Directed by F. Javier Gutierrez, Rings stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden, Bonnie Morgan and Vincent D’Onofrio. It will be released on February 3rd, 2017.
A new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise. A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.
