Robert Rodriguez to Direct JOHNNY QUEST for Warner Bros.

In some potentially awesome (or potentially disastrous) news, THR reported today that Robert Rodriguez has signed on to direct the Johnny Quest movie for Warner Bros. based on the Black List script from Dan Mazeau. As an enormous fan of the original cartoon series, I kind of like the idea of a live-action version, however I’m a little hesitant to get excited given Rodriguez’s track record as of late.

Here’s the synopsis of Mazeau’s script, which is basically the premise of the show:

Young Jonny Quest travels the world with his scientist father, adopted brother from India, Bandit the bulldog, and a government agent assigned to protect them while they investigate scientific mysteries.

Terry Rossio, who penned The Lone Ranger and Pirates of the Caribbean will be brought on to re-write the script with Rodriguez.
