Sacha Baron Cohen Exits Freddie Mercury Biopic

It was announced quite some time ago that Sacha Baron Cohen was working on a Freddie Mercury biopic that would chronicle the life of the famed Queen front-man.  Unfortunately, after disagreeing with the film’s tone with the surviving members of the band, Cohen left the project, which will probably all but kill it, at least for the time being.

According to Deadline, he wanted to go for a darker, more adult tone, and the band wanted a lighter, more PG-rated version of his story.  This is a shame, considering it seems like he’d be perfect for the role.
