Spike Lee’s OLDBOY Red Band Trailer

FilmDistrict has released the first trailer for Spike Lee‘s remake of Park Chan-wook‘s Oldboy, which stars Josh Brolin Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Those that are fans of the Korean version will find themselves in very familiar territory with this trailer, which looks a heck of a lot like the original.  Lee has stated that there will be some key differences in his version, so I’m hoping that there will be some new plot twists, especially with the film’s climax.

This could prove to be problematic for the film however, as it’s probably going to be tough to pull off an ending as shocking and horrific as Chan-wook Park’s.  Either way I’ll be curious to see how this turns out when it hits theaters October 25th. Here’s the trailer provided by Yahoo:

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.
