THE CANYONS Trailer Starring Lindsay Lohan

We’ve seen quite a few painfully bad trailers for Paul Schrader‘s The Canyons, which stars Lindsay Lohan and James Deen, however the latest doesn’t make it look quite as horrendous.  That isn’t to say this will be something worth seeing, but at least it’s not the amateurish 50s style trailer that was previously released.

Co-written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, Rules of Attraction), The Canyons tells the story of a couple in the Hollywood Hills whose lives become unraveled and turn to bloody violence.

Thus far, critics are loving to hate this film. with negative reviews almost across the board.  It was also leaked that the film was rejected from SXSW due to “quality” issues.  To me, it seems like a slightly higher profile version of The Room, so naturally I’ll be checking it out.

IFC is releasing the film in theaters on August 2nd in theaters and on VOD.  Here’s the latest trailer:

Christian is a young LA trust-fund dude who’s financing a horror film simply to keep his dad off his back about doing something with his life. He has been dating Tara for about a year — she was an aspiring actress/model who settled down with him when the reality of the business became apparent to her. She’s now just Christian’s bored plaything. Christian’s assistant Gina is casting the film with assistance from Tara. Gina is pushing Ryan, her boyfriend and struggling actor, for the lead. Unbeknownst to either Christian or Gina, Ryan and Tara were a couple three years ago. When Ryan came back into Tara’s life during the auditions for the movie, they reignited their affair. But Christian, a dangerous control-freak, finds out about the affair and starts playing cruel mind games with both Tara and Ryan, which escalate into an act of bloody violence.
