The Comedy (Clip) from Rick Alverson on Vimeo.
‘The Comedy’, the new comedy/drama from Rick Alverson was presented at Sundance by Rough House Pictures, the production company headed by David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, and Jody Hill. The film stars Tim Heidecker as Swanson, a middle aged hipster, whose life of privilege has left him indifferent and bored. The film supposedly is a “scathing look at the white male on the verge of collapse.”
The reviews out of Sundance have been mixed, with more than a few walkouts during the film. Heidecker even tweeted that the Q&A after the screening included a shouting match. Danny McBride is quoted as saying “This is Tim Heidecker’s IRON LADY . . . it is not to be missed.”
