To Make Matters Worse…Jon M. Chu to Direct ‘Masters of the Universe’

Hot off the tails of the impending disaster that is G.I. Joe Retaliation, director Jon M. Chu has been attached to the Sony/Mattel reboot of Masters of the Universe. The most perplexing thing about this announcement, is why would they hire Chu, when his previous work consists of Step Up 2: The Streets, and Justin Bieber: Never say Never; not to mention the G.I. Joe sequel that is apparently so bad, it needed to be pushed back nine months and have hours of re-shoots to fix it.Mike Finch and Alex Litvak who previous wrote Predators, worked on the script, however it doesn’t look like a half-decent script will save this one. There’s also no casting news as of yet, but I’m feeling a role for Taylor Kitsch or Taylor Lautner in there somewhere.

All we can hope for at this point is that it will be slightly better than the 1987 Dolph Lundgren version.
