Weinstein Co. to Remake Shaw Brothers Classics

The Weinstein Co. and Celestial Pictures have announced they have plans on remaking The Avenging Eagle and Come Drink With Me, two classic Shaw Brothers martial arts films from the 70s.

Both films will be scripted from John Fusco, who is also writing the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon sequel.  These will be the first English-language remakes of any of the Shaw Brothers’ massive library of Hong Kong action flicks.

The thing about these films is that they were never really big on plot, so they better choose wisely when it comes to the action choreographer, and maybe they’ll turn out okay.  No word yet on who will be directing either of them just yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
