David Hayter to Adapt Luna Brothers’ THE SWORD

I first discovered the work of the Luna Brothers after they debuted their comic book series Girls (not related to the HBO show) back in 2005.  While I liked this series quite a bit, it was their next series The Sword, that really elevated me to fanboy status.  The series follows a young paraplegic girl who finds a mysterious sword that gives her unimaginable power after her family is murdered.  The story is deep, violent, and wrought with emotion, everything that would play perfectly into a film adaptation.

Now, Lakeshore Entertainment has announced that they have hired David Hayter to adapt the comic into a feature film.  Hayter previously adapted The Watchman to the screen, and it looks like Lakeshore is planning on creating a separate film for each of the four volumes of the comic.  Production is set to being on the first installment early next year.
