Nicolas Winding Refn in Talks to Direct ‘Button Man’

After the success of Drive, director Nicolas Winding Refn received a big boost of forward momentum, and it seems like he’s not stopping anytime soon.  He’s already got Only God Forgives coming out this year, plus the newly announced Logan’s Run remake, and now he’s in talks to adapt the graphic novel Button Man into a feature film. The original graphic novel was written by John Wagner and Arthur Ranson, and the screenplay was penned by Hillary Seitz (Insomnia) and Barry Levy (Vantage Point).

Button Man has a similar plot to things we’ve seen before; an assassin becomes chosen to take part in a fight to the death with other killers all for the amusement of millionaires.  Although Refn can probably make something great out of the story, the concept is becoming one that seems to be made over and over, and is becoming quite tired.

It also needs to be reiterated that Refn hasn’t officially signed on to the project, however this does seem like something that could easily be part of his wheelhouse.

Dreamworks is producing the film, and there’s currently no production date set.
