I.D. Review

What if something happened to someone who was working in your home. You discover they have no identification on them and they look to be in serious condition. You do the right thing and get help. Once the paperwork and reports are taken that should be the end of your involvement, right? Right? If it turns out it wasn’t what would you do? How far would you take it? Kamal K.M.’s solid mystery/drama raises these questions as one woman attempts to find out the identity of a mysterious laborer in the film I.D.

ONLY GOD FORGIVES Review 10

ONLY GOD FORGIVES Review

Sitting in the theater at the LA Film Festival's Gala screening of Only God Forgives, director Nicolas Winding Refn gave a preface to the audience before letting the film roll. "I'm a pornographer, (audience laughs) and I like to make things that really excite me. So if Drive was a drug experience, I'd say that it was like the best cocaine you've ever had, and lots of it. With this film, I wasn't so much interested in cocaine as I was into LSD. Not the kind of LSD that makes you really happy and want to have a lot of sex and stuff like that, but the kind of LSD that makes you see really crazy things that aren't there, like sitting in the armchair and you just totally melt into it, you hear voices telling you really important things, you know, stuff like that."

THE KINGS OF SUMMER Review 9

THE KINGS OF SUMMER Review

It’s no secret to our readers that Rob Reiner’s Stand By Me is one of my all time favorite films. It’s a simple story about a group of friends hunting for a dead body, but it’s in these friends that true meaning of the film takes shape and is realized. It’s a story about growing up and friendship and cherishing the small, fleeting moments, in life.
