One of the films I was most excited for screening at Cannes this year was Andrea Arnold‘s (Wuthering Heights, Fish Tank) American Honey. A24 picked up the film and has now released a new trailer for it, solidifying my need to seek this one out as soon as possible. The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Sasha Lane, and Riley Keough as members of a traveling sales crew for magazine subscriptions, who party hard and enjoy getting into trouble.
American Honey doesn’t have a release date just yet, but I would suspect it’s going to be hitting theaters later this Fall.
Star (Sasha Lane), an adolescent girl from a troubled home, runs away with a traveling sales crew who drive across the American Midwest selling subscriptions door to door. Finding her feet in this gang of teenagers, one of whom is Jake (Shia LaBeouf), she soon gets into the group’s lifestyle of hard-partying nights, law-bending days, and young love.
