Interestingly, this was not the first time Ms. Watson was cast to play Belle, she was originally tapped to play the lead in a completely different version for Warner Bros. that was to be directed by Guillermo del Toro.
This is the third live-action Disney adaptation set to come out in the near future, with Cinderella releasing in March, and the Jon Favreau-directed Jungle Book coming out next year.
