Samuel Goldwyn Films has picked up the North American rights to Chris Prynoski’s animated comedy Nerdland, featuring the voices of Paul Rudd and Patton Oswalt as two slackers determined to become famous by the end of the day. Hannibal Buress, Reid Scott, Mike Judge, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Laraine Newman, and Paul Scheer also lend their voice talents to the film, which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

Nerdland is set for a theatrical release this December and will next be screening at this year’s Beyond Fest this weekend. Take a look below for the full release regarding the announcement.

Los Angeles, (September 29, 2016) – Prior to its West Coast Premiere at Beyond Fest this weekend, Samuel Goldwyn Film has picked up the North American rights to the first feature film from Titmouse, Chris Prynoski’s “NERDLAND” featuring the voices of Patton Oswalt and Paul Rudd, in addition to Hannibal Buress, Reid Scott, Mike Judge, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Laraine Newman, and Paul Scheer. The film will have a special Q&A prior to their Beyond Fest screening this weekend on Saturday October 1st at 11:59pm that will include Patton Oswalt, director Chris Prynoski, and writer/producer Andrew Kevin Walker. Samuel Goldwyn will release the film in theaters in December 2016.

“NERDLAND is a personal favorite of mine. It’s rare to be able to work with such a wealth of talent on a film that is so original and unapologetic,” says Peter Goldwyn, President of Samuel Goldwyn Films.

“The opportunity to work with Samuel Goldwyn Films on the release of NERDLAND extends the pride and satisfaction we’ve all felt throughout the process of making this movie. We couldn’t be happier,” said producer Gavin Polone.

NERDLAND is the wild tale of two slacker best friends, aspiring actor John (Paul Rudd) and wannabe screenwriter Elliot (Patton Oswalt), who have seen their dreams of super-stardom fizzle. With their 30th birthdays looming and desperation growing, they decide that in this 24/7, celebrity-obsessed world of over-shared navel-gazing, there are more ways to get famous then ever before — so why not become famous by the end of the day, at any cost? With only the grudging support of a wacky collectible store owner (Hannibal Buress) and their one-sided love for a pair of equally fame hungry women (Riki Lindhome & Kate Micucci) to keep them going, John and Elliot troll Los Angeles on an attention grabbing journey of increasingly reckless publicity stunts and failed heroics. While navigating their hyper-stimulating landscape of consumerism gone wild, our disheartened duo inadvertently become key witnesses in a high profile crime that sets the news cycle on fire. The resulting attention (from both the public and their dream girls) may just be John and Elliot’s ticket to fame, making them household names… but only if they can survive the infamy and worldwide shame.

The deal was negotiated by Samuel Goldwyn Films president Peter Goldwyn and UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.

NERDLAND is directed by Chris Prynoski, written by Andrew Kevin Walker, produced by Gavin Polone and Andrew Kevin Walker, executive produced by Kathy Landsberg, Chris Prynoski, and Shannon Barrett Prynoski, co-produced by Ben Kalina, with production design by Antonio Canobbio, and music by Night Club. Animation by Titmouse Inc. The production companies are AKW Worldwide, Pariah, and Titmouse. NERDLAND previously had its world premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
