News broke today that The Weinstein Co. is planning on cutting 20 minutes from the upcoming release of
Bong Joon-ho‘s science fiction film
Snowpiercer, in order to make it more understandable to less intelligent viewers. In addition to the cut, Weinstein is also adding opening and closing voice-overs just to make sure we can all grasp the concept of people on a train moving from the back to the front. “TWC people have told Bong that their aim is to make sure the film ‘will be understood by audiences in Iowa … and Oklahoma,’” said writer and film festival programmer

To make matters worse, since TWC owns the international rights to the film the cut will affect North America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
I don’t know what’s more offensive, the fact that Weinstein thinks the majority of us are idiots, or the fact that every other country has to deal with it too. It’s like a classroom where everyone has to use the round safety scissors because of that one kid that likes stabbing people.
