In 2005 Sam Mendes directed an understated little war film titled Jarhead, which brought a realistic and unique look at the tedium of war. Now, for some reason, there’s a sequel titled Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, which is a straight to DVD and looks to be a typically generic actioner.

The film is directed by Don Michael Paul (Who’s Your Caddy?) and stars Jesse Garcia, Bokeem Woodbine, Esai Morales, Cole Hauser, Stephen Lang, and Josh Kelly.

Jarhead 2: Field of Fire hits VOD and DVD and Blu-Ray August 19th, hit the jump to check out the trailer and synopsis.

Battle-scarred and disillusioned by the war, Corporal Chris Merriman is put in charge of a unit whose next mission is to resupply a remote outpost on the edge of Taliban-controlled territory. While driving through the hostile Helmand province, a Navy SEAL flags down their convoy and enlists the unit on an operation of international importance: they must help an Afghan woman famous for her defiance of the Taliban escape the country. Without tanks or air support, Merriman and his team will need all the courage and firepower they can muster to fight their way across the war-torn country and shepherd the woman to safety.

Jarhead 2 being released on DVD in a few weeks. How can there be criticism for a film that has not been released? I am looking forward to seeing the latest movie that Don Michael Paul directed. From the trailer, it has a outstanding cast and a great plot. This movie has some flavor, why not give it a chance to prove itself.

    • I absolutely will give this movie a chance, just like I give every movie a chance. That being said, I don’t have to see Sharknado 2 to know that it’s probably not going to be very good. The fact that it’s a completely different cast, different director, different writers, different war, and a completely different tone than the original leads me to be wary about the quality of this movie.

You are correct though, it may be something good and if it is, our full review of the movie will state that.
