Because We’ve All Been Demanding It- ‘The Garbage Pail Kids’ Reboot

I’m not going to lie, I loved the Garbage Pail Kids cards growing up. I even recall loving the original Garbage Pail Kids Movie as a child.  That being said, after revisiting the Garbage Pail Kids movie as an adult, I realized that my 8 year old mind couldn’t really comprehend what a terrible movie actually was.

If you’re too young to remember, The Garbage Pail Kids were a popular series of sticker cards created by Topps in the mid 80’s. The cards were something of a parody of Cabbage Patch Kids, but instead of creepy little children, they were gross creepy little children. The cards became popular amongst young boys (so I know I’m to blame for their success) and eventually spawned a really bad movie.

Well, someone decided it would be a good idea to reboot these disgusting little imps and make a new film.  Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, who bought Topps in 2007, has announced the new film, and attached short film director Pes, yes his name is actually Pes, to direct. Newcomer Michael Vukadinovich is set to write the script, and little else is known about the film, except that it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Now, if they made a Dinosaurs Attack! movie, then I’d be excited.

  1. I actually received a Garbage Pail Kids card from a co-worker last year, titled King-Size Kevin. Best day ever.
