Today, Variety reported that Warner Bros. is looking to
Ben Affleck as their first choice to direct the upcoming Justice League film. Affleck has worked with the studio on his last two projects,
The Town and
Argo, and they seem to think he has what it takes to bring the league to the big screen.
While I’m not necessarily opposed to this idea, Affleck would certainly not be the first person I would think of when picking a director for this kind of film. He’s proven himself as a director, but I’m not entirely sure he’d be a good fit for a big-budget super hero flick, and at this point, it’s not known if he’s on board either.
We all know that he has entered the super hero world before with Daredevil, and to a certain degree with Hollywoodland, however neither of those films really panned out well for him.
Affleck has also previously stated that he’s only interested in directing films he himself stars in, which would mean he will most likely be putting on some tights once again. At any rate, it’s far too early in the planning stages to take this information as anything but rumor.
