In an LA Times article published today, it was revealed that the gang over at Pixar is changing some of the plot elements to its upcoming Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory after watching Gabriela Cowperthwaite‘s recent documentary Blackfish, which exposes the mistreatment of Killer Whales at places like Sea World.  According to Louie Psihoyos, director of The Cove, he heard about a meeting between Pixar and Cowperthwaite, and subsequently decided to retool the film.

“At the end of the movie, some marine mammals are sent to an aquatic park/rehab facility — a SeaWorld-type environment,” stated Psihoyos.  “After seeing Blackfish, they retooled the film so that the sea creatures now have the choice to leave that marine park. They told Gabriela they didn’t want to look back on this film in 50 years and have it be their Song of the South.”

Finding Dory has a tentative release date of November 25th, 2015.
