It looks like someone thought it would be a good idea to make the most mind-numbingly annoying parts of Despicable Me into its own spinoff, with a film entirely centered around the Minion characters.
Today, Universal announced the currently untitled Minions film will be scheduled for a December 19, 2014 release, about five months after Despicable Me 2 hits theaters. The film is being directed by Pierre Coffin, who was one of the directors of the two Despicable Me films, and co-directed by Kyle Balda.
