Next year will mark the release of two classic horror remakes,
Evil Dead and
Carrie. While many people seem to be dismissing these films before even seeing a trailer for them, I’m still cautiously optimistic that these will at least capture the attitude of both. It would be nearly impossible to top the originals, so all we can really hope for is something that honors them and maybe generates some scares in the process.
First up we have an image for the Fede Alvarez directed Evil Dead. In the image we see the famous cellar, with Jane Levy popping out to say “What’s up?” Believe it or not, that’s the girl from the show Suburgatory.
The film is being produced by
Sam Raimi, the creator of the original series, and is co-written by
Diablo Cody.
Shiloh Fernandez,
Lou Taylor Pucci and
Bruce Campbell star, and the release date is set for
April 12, 2013.
Next, we have a new poster for Carrie, which stars Chloe Moretz as the titular character, with Julianne Moore playing her whack-job mother. Kimberly Peirce is directing, and the film is due out March 15, 2013.
