One of the biggest bummers about not living in L.A. is that I can’t attend the awesome Film Independent live reads that happen every couple of weeks.  Just announced today, the next iteration will be a live read of Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight, which if you remember, got leaked several months back.

Even though Tarantino scrapped the movie because of the leak, fans will be able to get an idea of what it was going to be about by attending on April 24th at the LACMA Bing Theater.  Hit the jump to check out the full press release regarding the announcement which includes a synopsis for the film.

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 3, 2014) — Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Film Independent Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, has announced today the World Premiere of a Staged Reading of Quentin Tarantino’s unmade script The Hateful Eight. This special, once in a lifetime event, will be held on Thursday, April 24 at LACMA’s Bing Theater. The Hateful Eight is the unproduced Tarantino script that made headlines when he decided to shut down production after the script leaked without his approval. The event will not be recorded or live streamed.

“Quentin Tarantino is a key figure in the independent creative community,” said Josh Welsh, President of Film Independent. “We are thrilled that Quentin will be holding the World Premiere Staged Reading of his script of The Hateful Eight with Film Independent at LACMA. Film Independent supports diversity, innovation and uniqueness of vision with events like the Spirit Awards, the Los Angeles Film Festival, our Filmmaker Labs, as well as our year-round film programing curated by Elvis Mitchell. We offer unique cinematic experiences to the people of Los Angeles, and this event is going to deliver just that.”

The Hateful Eight follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.

The event will take place at the LACMA Bing Theater on Thursday, April 24 at 8:00 pm. All proceeds go towards supporting the year-round programing efforts of Film Independent at LACMA.
