HONEYMOON Director Leigh Janiak to Direct THE CRAFT Remake

I don’t really care how poorly received The Craft was, for some reason I just loved that movie as a kid and I still feel nostalgic every time I’m paging through VOD listings and see it pop up. Now, according to THR, Sony is remaking the 1996 teen witchcraft movie and brought on Honeymoon director Leigh Janiak to direct.

Now normally I’d be dismissive of such a project, however I was a fan of Honeymoon, and having met Janiak at last year’s SXSW and having her on the podcast, I’m actually pretty stoked to see what direction she takes this story.

For those not familiar with the original, it starred Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True as a group of high schoolers who begin dabbling in witchcraft with predictably disastrous results.

Janiak will also be co-writing the script with Phil Graziadei, who she previously worked with on Honeymoon.
