Jim Carrey Confirmed For 'Kick-Ass 2' 1

After several weeks of rumors, today it’s been confirmed that Jim Carrey will indeed have a role in the upcoming Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, directed by Jeff Wadlow. The rest of the cast includes everyone from the first film including Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz, and Nicolas Cage, along with newcomers Lindy Booth, Donald Faison, Robert Emmsis, John Leguizamo, and Morris Chestnut.Carrey will play a member of the real-life Justice League-like team and have the name Colonel Stars.

Matthew Vaughn, the first film’s director, is overseeing the production, but is not able to take the director’s chair due to production on the next X-Men film titled X-Men: Days of Future Past. Having a new director, while not a nail in the coffin for this film, could be problematic considering Wadlow’s previous films include Never Back Down and Cry Wolf, both not so good.

I sincerely hope this turns out good, as I’m a big fan of the original film, as well as the Mark Millar/John Romita Jr comic that it’s based on. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is set for a June 28, 2013 release.
