Surprisingly, this summer’s biggest movie so far is Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World, surpassing Avengers: Age of Ultron at the box office, so it’s natural that a sequel would be in the works and today we got a bit more info on it from Universal.

The as yet named sequel will open in theaters June 22nd, 2018 and will see the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, with Colin Trevorrow writing the script, however it wasn’t stated in the press release if he would also be directing.

As someone who was pleasantly surprised with Jurassic World, I’m actually okay with this sequel as along as the script brings something new to the table without causing the story to become utterly ridiculous.

Here’s what was said in the release:

Executive producer Steven Spielberg and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s JURASSIC WORLD SEQUEL, a follow-up to one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of cinema.  Producer Frank Marshall once again joins Spielberg in leading the team of filmmakers for the next chapter in the franchise.  The film will be written by Jurassic World’s director, Colin Trevorrow, and Derek Connolly.  Spielberg will be joined by Trevorrow as executive producer.
