Brian K. Vaughan and
Pia Guerra‘s
Y: The Last Man is one of my all-time favorite comic book series, and the idea of a film adaptation has been floating around Hollywood for over a decade. Back in March,
we reported that the film got some new writers with
Matthew Federman and
Stephen Scaia coming up with a new script. Well, it seems that they finished the script and New Line is ecstatic with the end result, as they are apparently pushing the project to the front burner.
According to
Vulture, inside sources say that New Line is very excited about the script and want to move things forward quickly. Although this is a relatively insignificant amount of information, I’m just pleased to hear anything about this movie happening.
What’s left to determine is who’s directing, who’s starring, and if New Line will make the story a trilogy, or try to cram everything into one film. It was last rumored that D.J. Caruso was set to direct, with Shia LeBeouf starring, but that information is very out of date and probably not the case anymore.
We’ll definitely be keeping our ear to the ground for this one, so check back for updates.
