NYCC 2016: POWER RANGERS Gets a Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot has been revealed out of New York Comic-Con, and it really did little to make me want to seek this one out. The tone looks a lot like Chronicle and the teaser didn’t show off any action just yet, but it does give a glimpse of Elizabeth Banks as the villain Rita Repulsa. Not being a fan of the show as a kid, the movie isn’t really doing it for me and this teaser doesn’t change that.

Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) and also stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G and Ludi Lin, with Bryan Cranston playing the Rangers’ leader Zordon and Bill Hader voicing his robot sidekick Alpha 5. It opens in theaters March 24, 2017.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
