Do you know about the Doritos “Crash the Super Bowl” contest? Make a commercial for Doritos and send it in by Nov. 16th. Two will be selected to be aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 and one winner will be chosen by USA Today Ad Meter rankings. And, the prize just became a little sweeter, too. Not only does the winner get to work with director Michael Bay on the next installment of the Transformers franchise, but, with the news of Mark Wahlberg joining the cast of Transformers 4, slated for theaters June 2014, comes a bigger realization that they get to work with Wahlberg, too!

This isn’t the first time Michael Bay or other directors have take their talents to award-deserving commercials, you might be surprised that many of your favorite Hollywood hot-shot directors have been involved in some of the very best product endorsements. Hit the jump for more directors and videos of their commercials.

David Fincher — Heineken

Brad Pitt and David Fincher work well together in film, so why not make a commercial, too? This Heineken spot is a tongue in cheek on the star stature of Pitt and the annoying paparazzi that flock like zombies. His other commercial credits include Nike, Coca-Cola, Chanel and Levi’s. He founded Propaganda Films and has directed loads of music videos and films like Seven and Fight Club. He is often known for his musical collaboration with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Atticus Ross, who both won an Academy Award for Best Original Score in The Social Network.

Michael Bay — “Got Milk?”

He started in music videos and commercials and boy, did he do them well. Michaelbay.com says by the age of 26, he was the most sought-after commercial director in the U.S. No matter what he’s doing, he shoots with energy and visual mastery that is all his own. He has won commercial awards that span the festivals and guilds. He was awarded the Director’s Guild of America’s “Director of the Year” Award for his ‘Aaron Burr’ commercial (the original “Got Milk” piece), Gold and Silver Lions at Cannes and the Grand Prix at Clio Awards. Michael Bay is a natural storyteller with specific and unique qualities.

Nike — Michael Mann

Never give up! Much like a gladiator or a Roman soldier fights to the end, so is an NFL football player. Michael Mann (Heat, Last of the Mohicans) captures this unstoppable drive as he features a defensive player rushing down the morphing football field to tackle the quarterback. Upon succeeding, the ball is flipped to a running back who muscles, jumps, spins, grunts and stretches his way to the end zone. With very dramatic power, the commercial displays hope, persistence, courage, inspiration and victory. Mann is best known for his action sequences. This commercial shows just that.

Wes Anderson — American Express

Arguably the coolest, most poetic director of our day, Wes Anderson has an indie style all his own. With creations such as The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and Bottle Rocket, Anderson has a knack for cinematic quirks and unique visual mastery. His eye for detail is obscure, you’re never surprised when you see a kitschy antique in one of his scenes that used to lay on your grandma’s counter (maybe the clear glass squirrel peanut dish or the macramae owl plant holder).
