Before seeing his big budget Hollywood debut with Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi (Boy, What We Do In The Shadows) has another quirky comedy lined up for us to endlessly re-watch and quote with Hunt For The Wilderpeople. The film, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, revolves around a delinquent who is sent off into the country to get some rehabilitation from a rough but loving set of foster parents where comedy and adventure ensue.
Hunt For The Wilderpeople is based on the book by Barry Crump and opens in New Zealand March 31st. There’s no U.S. release date as of yet, but this can’t come out soon enough.
Based on ‘Wild Pork and Watercress,’ Barry Crump’s book about a juvenile delinquent left in the care of rough yet loving foster parents who live off the wilds of the New Zealand bush. The hunt is on and they are wanted alive.
