Timur Bekmambetov‘s BEN-HUR Trailer

Paramount has released the first trailer for Timur Bekmambetov‘s upcoming remake of Ben-hur, which stars Jack Huston in the iconic role of the bad-ass chariot racer. The film also stars Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Nazanin Boniadi, Pilou Asbaek, and Rodrigo Santoro.

As someone who hasn’t seen the 1959 Charlton Heston version, or the original 1925 version, and as someone who isn’t a big fan of Bekmambetov’s films in general, I’m feeling a bit indifferent about this one.

Ben-Hur opens in theaters August 12th.

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.
