Trailer: ‘The Getaway’ Starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez

For some reason it seems like there’s a lot of generic looking action movies set to come out this year, and Getaway looks like one of them.  The film stars Ethan Hawke as a former race car driver whose wife gets kidnapped and in order to keep her safe he must take orders from a mysterious man (Jon Voight) who instructs him to drive for some reason. Along the way, he picks up Selena Gomez who then gets wrapped up in the craziness as well.

Maybe it’s the underwhelming trailer, or the fact that it’s the same director (Courtney Solomon) that made 2000’s Dungeons and Dragons, but something tells me this isn’t going to be a big hit.  What are your thoughts? Hit the jump for the synopsis and trailer.

Getaway is the gritty, heart-pounding action thriller from Warner Bros. Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment in which former race car driver Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) is pitted against the clock. Desperately trying to save the life of his kidnapped wife, Brent commandeers a custom Shelby Cobra Mustang, taking it and its unwitting owner (Selena Gomez) on a high-speed race against time, at the command of the mysterious villain holding his wife hostage.
