If you happen to be headed to the Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden later this month, you have the opportunity to try out certainly one of the most claustrophobic film-going experiences ever by watching the sci-fi thriller Aniara from inside a padded sarcophagus. This isn’t a short experience either, with the film having a run time of an hour and 47 minutes.

Aniara is an adaptation of a poem by Harry Martinson in which humanity is forced to escape from the Earth via spaceship. The vessel’s passengers are forced to wrestle with obsessions, isolation and limited space. This is an experience that the Gothenburg Film Festival will now let selected visitors come very close to. It’s directed by Pella Kagerman and Hugo Lilja.

Here’s the trailer for Aniara:

The screenings will run between January 27th and 31st, with each experience taking a little over three hours with a a randomly-selected group. Eight places will be available at each screening.

If you want to get in on this, be sure to register on the festival site at https://goteborgfilmfestival.se/en/claustrophobic-cinema/.
