A new trailer for Pixar’s Cars 3 debuted during the college football national championship game on ESPN, and it’s much more conventional than the cryptic teaser.
It looks like the film will follow a familiar sports story, that of the aging warrior who must face off against an up-and-comer. A few different Rockys come to mind. Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is considered a washed-up racecar, while the even-sleeker-named Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer) is the new hotshot on the circuit.
Directed by Brian Fee, Cars 3 will be released in theaters on June 16th, 2017.
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.
