Ditching the numbered titling that began with the awesome Fast Five – the first Avengers of the Fast & Furious franchise, Universal has announced a new name for the eighth chapter of the story. There’s also a vague new synopsis and a new tease for the trailer that drops on Sunday.
The new film is officially called The Fate of the Furious, which is kind of weird and also kind of awesome; though we can all lament the missed opportunity to go super-cheesy with The F8 of the Furious. Hopefully in part 9 we’ll find out what happens to the fast.
Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game — and the rest of the crew has been exonerated — the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.
