The first poster for Nia DaCosta’s upcoming Candyman has been released, and while stark, it definitely hits on the iconography of the series. You’ve got a hook dripping with honey, a bee, and text daring you to say his name – what more could fans want? Perhaps a trailer, which is set to be released later this week. The film, a “spiritual successor” to the 1992 original, stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tony Todd, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Colman Domingo. Candyman hits theaters on June 12th.
I’m actually looking forward to seeing this, especially since it’s going to be produced by Jordan Peele. I loved the original, so we’ll see if it’s going to at least a decent version of the original.
