Passengers boasts two appealing leads in Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, along with an intriguing premise. En route to live on distant planet, two of the travelers on a giant spaceship awake from hypersleep 90 years too early.
However, the film’s marketing has yet to successfully sell or expand on the idea, and the latest trailer is the most confounding yet. The minute-long trailer features choppy voiceover and even choppier imagery that alternatively positions the film as a space disaster epic and an odd romance. Mostly though, it just seems like an excuse to feature the new Imagine Dragons song “Levitate.”
I guess we’ll find out what’s actually going on when Passengers is released on December 21st.
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet.
