First appearing as an internet meme nearly a decade ago, The Slender Man has been evoked in numerous forms of media and been a subject in
horrific real life crimes. HBO is airing a documentary on the mythical figure and the crime he inspired,
Beware the Slenderman, on
January 23rd, and there was a
Jessica Biel-starring film called
The Tall Man in 2012 based on the (new-ish) legend.
Though it’s well-trod territory, it’s probably not surprising that another incarnation is coming, a horror film titled simply Slender Man. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Slender Man will be directed Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard, The Losers). Plot details aren’t yet known, but probably wouldn’t be too difficult to guess.
Slender Man is scheduled for release on February 2nd, 2018.
